About Dumfries House

Dumfries House is one of Britain’s most beautiful stately homes, set in 2,000 acres of Ayrshire countryside. Saved by HRH The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay in 2007, it is a shining example of heritage-led regeneration. The estate now offers a wide range of visitor experiences and is a hub for education, hospitality, and community engagement.

A Long-Standing Partnership

ACR Epos Systems has been the trusted EPOS provider to Dumfries House Estate for many years. Our systems have been in place across several key locations, including:

  • The Coach House Café
  • The Visitor Centre Shop
  • The Woodlands Restaurant
  • The Function Suite
  • New Cumnock Outdoor Swimming Pool

Upgrading for the Future

In 2024, Dumfries House began planning a major upgrade of their existing EPOS infrastructure. The goal was to modernise the estate’s operations and create a more streamlined experience for both staff and visitors.

Key project objectives included:

  • Installing the latest EPOS hardware and software
  • Connecting all terminals to a centralised back-office system (pending infrastructure updates)
  • Introducing a digital gift card system, allowing customers to purchase and redeem gift cards on-site

What We Delivered

ACR successfully installed a new estate-wide EPOS system using the latest VMAX terminals and SPOS-UK software. This upgrade brings faster transaction speeds, cleaner menus, and improved accuracy in revenue reporting across all locations.

SPOS-UK will also provide the digital gift card functionality, which is currently in progress pending final IT integration.

Ongoing Work

The final phase of the project will see the completion of:

  • Centralised back-office reporting
  • Full deployment of the digital gift card platform

Once complete, Dumfries House will benefit from a fully integrated EPOS solution, designed to support a world-class visitor experience.
