ACR continues its work across the Isle of Islay, delivering a complete EPOS upgrade for the Port Charlotte Hotel - enhancing service speed, control, and guest experience.
 
About Port Charlotte Hotel
The Port Charlotte Hotel is a small 4-star property set in a beautiful beachside location within the conservation village of Port Charlotte, on the Isle of Islay - often called “The Queen of the Hebrides.”
Privately owned and run, the hotel welcomes residents and non-residents year-round. Alongside comfortable accommodation, it offers a busy restaurant, public bar and residents’ lounge - each serving both locals and visitors who travel from around the world to explore Islay’s scenery, whisky distilleries and wildlife.
 
The Project
ACR previously supplied the hotel’s original EPOS system several years ago. As that hardware reached end of life, and with the hotel busier than ever, the owners chose to upgrade both the equipment and software to improve speed, reliability, and reporting.
Because of Islay’s remote island location, the installation required careful planning to ensure minimal disruption and smooth transition to the new system. The ACR team travelled to Port Charlotte to complete the full upgrade and training on-site.
The Installation
The new system includes:
- 2 × VMAX IKON terminals running SPOS-UK EPOS software
 - SPOS Remote handheld ordering for faster table service
 - Integration with Clover credit card terminals for seamless payments
 - Integration with HOP PMS software for joined-up front desk and restaurant management
 - SPOS Manager Back-Office software for real-time reporting and stock monitoring
 
 
 
This combination provides the hotel team with faster service and clearer oversight of stock and sales. With handheld ordering and direct card integration, staff can manage tables more efficiently and deliver a smoother guest experience.
Result
The new installation ensures the Port Charlotte Hotel benefits from a reliable, integrated and future-ready EPOS platform. Staff now have real-time visibility of sales, stock and performance across all service areas - improving both efficiency and customer experience.
This latest project follows several other ACR installations on Islay, strengthening our continued relationship with local hospitality and retail businesses across the island.
